Dining on the Surf Coast
Torquay's food scene punches well above its weight. From beachfront cafes serving all-day brunch to restaurants with ocean views and local wine lists, you won't go hungry on the Surf Coast.
Most dining is within a 5-minute drive of Holyday House, or you can cook at home in the fully equipped kitchen and fire up the BBQ in the backyard.
Breakfast & Brunch
Moby's Torquay
A local favourite with great coffee and a relaxed beachy vibe. The menu leans into seasonal, locally sourced produce. Busy on weekends — get there early.
Bomboras
Right on the foreshore with views across the bay. Classic Australian brunch — think smashed avo, eggs benny, and smoothie bowls. Perfect post-beach fuel.
Torquay Foreshore Café
Casual, family-friendly, and right beside the playground. Good coffee, simple menu, and the best spot for watching the waves while the kids play.
Lunch & Dinner
The Bottle of Milk
A Torquay institution. Famous for burgers, milkshakes, and a surf-culture vibe. Always busy, always good. Cash and card.
Growlers
Pizza, craft beer, and a laid-back atmosphere. Great for families and groups. The woodfired pizzas are the star — pair with a local pale ale.
Scorched
Modern Australian with an emphasis on local produce and grilled meats. A step up for a special dinner without the pretension. Book ahead on weekends.
Taco Taco
Mexican street food done right. Fresh tacos, burritos, and margaritas in a colourful, casual setting. Quick, flavourful, and great value.
Fish & Chips
You can't visit the coast without fish and chips. Grab a serve and eat on the beach — it's a Torquay tradition.
Fishos Torquay
The go-to for fresh fish and chips. Simple, well-executed, and right near the beach. Generous portions and fair prices.
Cooking at Home
Holyday House has a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need — oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, and all the basics. There's also a BBQ and outdoor dining area in the backyard, plus a herb garden to pick from.
The Torquay town centre has Coles and Woolworths for groceries, or pick up local produce at the fortnightly farmers market. For craft beer to go with the BBQ, check out our breweries guide.
