Our favourite pizza in town
Town & Country Pizza and Pasta is on the ground floor of the Dunes Village shops at 222 Fischer Street, Torquay North. If you're staying at the north end of town, it's the closest pizza by a few minutes, and it's our favourite. Order, pick up a bottle from the BWS in the same centre, and you're home before it's cold.
It's part of a Victorian chain that started as a small family pizzeria and has been going for more than 25 years, with stores around Geelong, the Bellarine and the west. The menu is traditional pizza and pasta from family recipes, plus gourmet pizzas and gluten-free bases. It's a laid-back sit-down restaurant as well as a takeaway, and on Google it's the best-rated pizza place in Torquay.
What to order
Prices are from Town & Country's online ordering menu in October 2026. It covers all the stores, so check the Torquay price when you order.
The pizzas
A large traditional, like the Aussie, Mexicana or BBQ, is $27, and the gourmet ones, like the Southwest Chicken, Hot Pepperoni, Pumpkin and Pesto Fetta, are $30. The Hot Honey Pepperoni is the one the restaurant pushes. Half-and-half is available if the group can't agree.
The specials
There's a changing list of new pizzas, like a Sicilian Summer with semi-dried tomato pesto and chilli, a mortadella pizza and a Tex-Mex chicken one.
Pasta, risotto and the rest
Pastas and risottos, a chicken parmigiana ($31) and arancini ($12.90). It's a proper Italian menu, not just pizza, which helps if someone doesn't want pizza.
Hours and ordering
It opens for dinner from 4pm. Order online for pickup or delivery, or ring the Torquay store on (03) 5261 5562. You can eat in, too.
The Dunes Village shops
The same centre has the BWS and Cafe El Nido for breakfast, and the Djila Tjarri skate park is a short walk away. For the other pizza places in town, see our pizza guide.
What people say
Town & Country Torquay rates 4.7 on Google from more than 680 reviews, the best score of the pizza places in town. Reviewers keep coming back to the generous toppings, the friendly service and the gluten-free bases, and a few single out the pesto pasta. One calls it the best pizza around, with toppings that put other places to shame. There's an outdoor area too, if you'd rather eat there on a warm night.
Gluten free and kids
Town & Country says gluten-free and gourmet pizza lovers aren't missing out, and the gluten-free bases get good reviews. There are half-and-half pizzas for fussy eaters, garlic bread and simple traditional pizzas like ham and cheese, and pasta for kids who don't want pizza.
Why it's our pick
It's good pizza close to home, with pasta and risotto on the same menu so everyone gets what they want. Ordering is easy online, and if you're at the north end of town it's only a few minutes to pick up. On a summer night, take it down to Whites Beach for the sunset.
For a wood-fired pizza instead, try The Cave in Jan Juc or Il Matto on Bell Street.
Allergies
The gluten-free bases are popular, but the kitchen also makes regular pizza, so if someone in the group is coeliac or has a serious allergy, mention it when you order and talk to the staff about how it's prepared. The same goes for nuts in the pesto dishes.
